Durante el 2000, en cooperación con el Instituto Otavaleño de Antropología (IOA), se llevó a cabo el proyecto: Red de Archivos Sonoros Andinos, con el objetivo de reforzar las tareas de rescate, preservación o promoción del patrimonio musical andino; y establecer vehículos de comunicación y acceso mutuo de información a través de medios convencionales y virtuales.

A finales del 2001, se trabajó con el Centro Pedagógico y Cultural Simón I. Patiño (Centro Portales), en Cochabamba (Bolivia), con el objetivo de unificar la base de datos de su Centro de Documentación de la Música Boliviana (CENDOC-MB) e integrarla a la Red de Archivos Sonoros Andinos iniciada con el Instituto Otalaveño de Antropología (IOA), en Otavalo (Ecuador).

Proyecto Desarrollo, participación y preservación cultural en Vicos, Áncash

Actividad que se desarrolló en la comunidad campesina de Vicos, seleccionada por tener un pasado de cooperación con proyectos de desarrollo y, sin embargo, haberse conservado fiel a su identidad local. Nuestro proyecto ha provisto a la comunidad de equipos de video digital y cámaras fotográficas, y nuestros especialistas han realizado talleres y seminarios en documentación audiovisual. Para esta tarea se contó con el apoyo logístico del Instituto de Montaña (Mountain Institute) que trabaja en la región y con la ONG Urpichallay con sede en Marcará.

Material audiovisual preservado y expuesto en el Centro Comunal “La Casa de los Abuelos” en Vicos, registrando así su propia historia y promoviendo su cultura local. Apertura de la colección “Comunidad campesina de Vicos” con 290 fotografías y 26 cintas de video con más de 20 horas de grabaciones de campo.

Proyecto Preservación de la música tradicional andina

Durante sus primeros 17 años, con el auspicio de la Fundación Ford, el actual IDE desarrolló este proyecto con el objetivo de documentar etnográfica y audiovisualmente el calendario de fiestas, danzas y música de diversas regiones de los Andes peruanos.

Entre 1985 y 2001 se cubrieron 12 regiones andinas, dedicando un año de investigación a cada una:
Junín (Valle del Mantaro-1985), Cajamarca (1986-1987), Arequipa (Valle del Colca-1988), Cuzco (1989), Lambayeque (1990-1991), Puno (1991-1996), Áncash (1993), Lima (1993-1994), Piura (1994), Ayacucho (1996), Apurímac (1995-1997), Huancavelica (1997-1998)
